In many aspects, such as moving the cursor around in the file, LibreOffice is in fact superior to Word. I agree with the article I linked, I prefer MS Office and thus WPS when I'm editing small files or spreadsheets but when I'm doing any actual work, I just like LibreOffice better, even over Word. WPS attempts to mimick Microsoft Office but LibreOffice has a different goal. The "2003 GUI" you speak of is indeed a feature, check this link. They're easy to navigate, preview and install. My personal advise is: Use WPS but leave LibreOffice installed and ready, you might need to open LO one day if you're wondering. It definitely has better MS support than LibreOffice. As for me, I'm forced to use MS Office anyway, since I can't work without it, so it doesn't matter for me. It's your choice if you decide to trust such a company. WPS also shows ads, it shows at least ad in the right side bar (KingSoft Data Recovery) but it might show more in the future.
#Wps office or libreoffice code
I visited the forums and the moderators said the code for that feature was windows only. Note I'm running 2010 in Wine so that could be the reason.īut the issue is, not only did WPS not show my ToCs but it also deleted 4 or 5 pages after it! If I hadn't known how the documents looked previously, I would have been fired! LibreOffice rendered the ToCs poorly, but at least they were shown.Īnother issue is support for formulas, when I tried WPS it didn't support formulas in the GNU/Linux platform. However, I wouldn't completely discredit WPS as even Microsoft Office 2010 has problems updating those Tables.

I have dozens of documents created in M$2007 from work and none of them show Table of Contents in WPS, leading me to believe some objects are unsupported depending on how they were saved or created. I gave WPS a serious try some time ago so I'll try to show you the bad, the good and the ugly the different about it.Īnyway, WPS Office is telling a lie. Everyone is defending LibreOffice for being "libre" and yet many of them use Google Chrome or hate on GNU.
